Nearly two decades ago, Mark Rozelle made the decision to volunteer at a summer session at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, and his life was forever changed. At first, as he sat through volunteer training that talked about potential medical interventions, he was certain he has made a huge mistake. But when the campers arrived, he suddenly realized ... Hole in the Wall wasn't a camp for sick kids, it was a camp for kids, who just happened to be sick. And from that moment on, he became one of the organizations most dedicated volunteers and donors, including becoming a member of Camp's Founder's Society, a community of generous friends who have made provisions for Hole in the Wall in their estate plan.
"Being a part of Hole in the Wall really helps me put into focus my own personal life of what is important, what is a struggle and what is not a struggle," Mark said. "And outside of camp it's the same thing - it's a constant reminder of how fortunate I am to be in a position to give back, whether time or financially. My struggles can't come near to what these families are dealing with, and if I can do anything to lighten that load, I'm going to do it."
A volunteer and donor for many years, Mark wasn't aware of the Founder's Society until fairly recently. Once he learned about the program, and being the planner that he is. Mark knew it was something he wanted to be a part of.
"I've had direct involvement with kids as well as their adults, and I see the impact this place has on them," Mark shared, "That's why being a donor is important to me, because I want this mission to continue. It's really, really important to me that this organization continues to thrive for generations to come, so if I can do anything in a small way to help that continue, I definitely want to be part of that."
